Dr. Vasanthi is currently leading efforts in Clinical Microbiology and in establishing Collaborations / Partnerships for pre-clinical studies and development of novel broad-spectrum small molecules targeted to address anti-microbial resistance (AMR) in serious bacterial infections. 

She was previously at AstraZeneca for over 25 years, mainly in the area of bacterial infections, including different diarrheal diseases and tuberculosis. Vasanthi provided strategic inputs to many projects towards the discovery of novel drugs against tuberculosis. She also led teams specialised in phenotypic screens, whole cell-based mechanism of action assays, and led hit-to-lead programs. She received her doctoral degree in Microbiology and Cell Biology from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.
