Events
Ignite hosts a diverse range of events that strengthen our mission to support meaningful scientific progress in India. These events bring together researchers, industry leaders, donors, and partners to exchange ideas, build capacity, and advance impactful science.
We conduct scientific workshops that equip researchers with essential skills, ranging from improving translational readiness to adopting new technologies and best practices. These programs help bridge gaps in academic training and empower scientists to advance their work toward real-world solutions.

Smart Solutions from Algae SpARC Meeting
The focus of Smart Solutions from Algae SpARC meeting is to explore algae-based approaches for carbonsmart urban infrastructure, including the integration of algae systems on building surfaces to capture CO₂, improve air quality, and contribute to sustainable urban environments. To operationalize this vision, the SpARC will convene a carefully curated, interdisciplinary consortium spanning the full innovation pipeline. This includes algal taxonomists to identify species suited to diverse Indian climatic zones; molecular biologists to enable strain optimization; biomaterials scientists and engineers to develop compatible construction systems using indigenous materials; architects and civil engineers to integrate these solutions into urban infrastructure; climate scientists and environmental monitoring experts to quantify impact; aquatic ecologists to assess ecological interactions; environmental economists to evaluate lifecycle viability; and real estate and construction stakeholders to ensure scalability and adoption.
Push Translation: Pushing Discoveries Across the Translation Gap
Conducted a 2-day workshop on 30th-31st October 2025 at Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms (C-CAMP), Bengaluru, where experienced drug developers imparted the basic knowledge needed for investigators to do the necessary experiments to complete the package that they can then present to potential licensors. On the second day, we had a half-day session where academic investigators presented their opportunities to the experienced drug developers and got feedback and potentially even interest in collaboration.
Cognitive Gastronomy: Where Food Meets Data and Science
Organized on 19th April 2024 at Lyfe Restaurant, Bengaluru, the themed dinner “Cognitive Gastronomy – From the Harappan Civilisation till Tomorrow” explored how climate, culture, and creativity shape what we eat. Ignite brought together food, science, and data to highlight how cooking, an art form, is also a data-rich process with deep implications for nutrition, health, and sustainability.
Led by Ignite’s Director Bhairavi M. Shibulal, the evening created a space for like-minded individuals working to strengthen India’s life science ecosystem. Chef Abhijit Saha, a culinary innovator and sustainable dining advocate, and Dr. Ganesh Bagler of IIT Delhi, a pioneer in computational gastronomy, guided guests through a culinary journey across time and geography, emphasizing how climate change is already reshaping our food systems and choices.
Healthy Ageing: New Frontiers
As lifespans increase globally, the real challenge lies not just in adding years to life, but adding life to those years. At Ignite Life Science Foundation, we envision a future where ageing is not associated with decline, but with vitality, dignity, and continued contribution to society.
On July 8 2025 Ignite Life Science Foundation, in partnership with the Department of Life Sciences, Shiv Nadar University, hosted “Healthy Ageing: New Frontiers”. The event brought together potential donors, researchers, and stakeholders to explore impactful pathways for collaboration. We also hosted an inspiring student interaction session on July 7: “Science Without Silos — Interdisciplinary Research for Societal Impact”, led by board members and advisors and donors of Ignite Life Science Foundation
