Ravi Muddashetty is a Neurobiologist interested in cellular and molecular aspects of memory and cognition. Ravi also works on synaptic dysfunctions leading to memory and cognitive defects during development and ageing using animal, stem cell models and human ageing cohort studies. Ravi got his PhD from the University of Muenster in Germany in Cell Biology and Genetics and did his postdoctoral research at Albert Einstein College of Medicine (NY) and Emory University in Atlanta, USA. Returning to India as a faculty member at inStem (Bangalore), Ravi worked on several aspects of neurodevelopment and molecular pathology in autism spectrum disorders. After moving to the Centre for Brain Research (CBR) at IISc, Bangalore, Ravi has focused on synaptic defects contributing to loss of cognition in the ageing brain. Ravi’s research interest encompasses many aspects of synaptic biology, including activity-mediated protein synthesis, calcium signalling, bioenergetics in neurons, epitranscriptome and RNA-mediated synaptic pathology.
