Dr. Imroze Khan is an Associate Professor of Biology at Ashoka University, with research expertise in evolutionary biology and immunology. His work focuses on the evolution of immune systems and host–pathogen interactions, combining experimental evolution using insect model systems with theoretical modelling, genomics, and molecular biology approaches. He also examines the broader design principles of immune responses across populations and species. Alongside his research, Dr. Khan actively engages with interdisciplinary scholarship, exploring the intersections of evolutionary thinking with cultural history and liberal education. He views evolutionary biology as a conceptual bridge between the natural sciences and the humanities, shaped by historical perspectives and natural experiments. Dr. Khan holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry from St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata, a Master’s Degree in Biochemistry from the University of Calcutta, and a PhD in Evolutionary Biology from IISER Kolkata. Prior to joining Ashoka University, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS), Bengaluru, and a visiting researcher at the Free University of Berlin.
