Dr. Chandrima Das is a Professor-G in the Biophysics and Structural Genomics Division at the Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics (SINP), Kolkata. A distinguished molecular biologist and epigenetics researcher, her work focuses on understanding the role of chromatin dynamics and epigenetic regulators in human diseases, including cancer, metabolic disorders, and infectious diseases. Through her Chromatin Dynamics Laboratory, she investigates chromatin reader proteins as potential therapeutic targets for precision medicine.
Dr. Das has received several prestigious honors, including the CDRI Award for Excellence in Drug Research, the National Bioscience Award for Career Development, and the Swarnajayanti Fellowship. She is an elected Fellow of the Indian National Science Academy (INSA), the National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI), and the West Bengal Academy of Science and Technology. Her contributions to chemical biology, epigenetics, and disease biology have established her as a leading scientist and mentor in the field.
