Ignite supports high-quality research by identifying promising investigators and ideas through a competitive review process involving external experts. We prioritise collaborative, multidisciplinary projects that bring together multiple scientists or institutions.

Beyond funding, our Scientific Advisory Board provides ongoing mentorship and guidance to help investigators strengthen their work and accelerate progress. We also support early translational research that de-risks ideas and prepares them for future development and investment.

If we do not have an open call that matches your interests, please explore our Program Areas. If your proposal fits one of these areas, you may contact us to discuss the possibility of a Fast Grant.

High-quality scientific research depends not only on strong ideas but also on access to advanced equipment. To enable researchers to generate reliable data and accelerate discovery, Ignite provides support for procuring essential instruments that strengthen experimental capabilities across laboratories. Our Equipment Grants help bridge critical infrastructure gaps, ensuring that scientists have the tools they need to test hypotheses, validate findings, and pursue impactful research.

Currently, there are no active Equipment Grants.

Supporting young researchers is central to our mission of strengthening India’s scientific ecosystem. Our student grants provide opportunities for early-career scientists to gain exposure, build skills, and connect with the wider research community by enabling them to participate in conferences, workshops, and scientific meetings. These programs are designed to empower students from diverse backgrounds and institutions, helping them advance their academic journeys and contribute meaningfully to Indian science.

We currently offer two student travel
grant programs

01

Ekalavya Ignite Travel Grant:

The Ekalavya Ignite Travel Grant supports students and researchers traveling abroad to participate in scientific conferences, workshops, and other academic activities. Made possible through the generous support of the Eklavya Education Foundation, this fellowship allows recipients to present their work internationally, learn from global experts, and expand their professional networks. The initiative is further strengthened through support from C-CAMP, reflecting a shared commitment to nurturing Indian scientific talent on the global stage.

Sohan P Modak Ignite Travel Grant:

India hosts a large and diverse pool of research students, many of whom study in universities with limited access to research opportunities. The Sohan P. Modak Ignite Travel Grant addresses this gap by supporting students, especially from Tier 2 and state universities. to attend national conferences, workshops, and training programs. The fellowship promotes skill development, fosters collaboration, and helps broaden exposure to India’s research landscape, empowering under-represented students to pursue meaningful scientific careers.
